Despite affecting half the global population, women’s health issues receive barely a fraction of research funding and venture investment. Conditions linked to vaginal health, fertility, and hormonal balance are often treated reactively, only after symptoms appear. That gap is exactly what YON E Health, an Amsterdam-based FemTech startup, wants to close.
The company just raised €250,000 in pre-seed funding, led by PMK-Group, with participation of UniPrisma Venture Studio and serial entrepreneur Matias Toye, founder of Oyster Shield and Dilicheck
The funds will be used to develop its first smart vaginal health device that monitors core biomarkers such as pH and temperature, giving women and clinicians real-time insight into reproductive wellness.
Meet the founder breaking taboos
YON E Health was founded by Roswitha Verwer, who has made it her mission to challenge the silence around women’s intimate health. When she first began pitching her vision, she was told that vaginal health was “too niche”, “too complex”, and “too taboo” for serious investment.
Verwer told TFN, “YON E Health was created from a clear and urgent truth: women’s health has been undervalued for far too long, not because the need is absent, but because innovation and investment have historically overlooked it.”
She added, “Leading YON E Health is about advancing a movement where women’s health, technology, and entrepreneurship are recognised as foundational to our collective future. We are developing solutions that don’t simply monitor the body but deeply understand it. Turning data into personalised, meaningful insights that will shape women’s health through all stages of life.”
The company’s device measures vaginal pH and basal body temperature continuously, offering early insight into microbiome balance, hormonal changes, and fertility windows. Its blend of biosensor precision and user-centred design sets it apart from the growing field of FemTech startups.
Dr Muskaan Bhan, Chief Clinical Officer at YON E Health, noted, “Our technology bridges the gap between research and reality, empowering women globally with real-time, clinical-grade insights that can prevent complications before they start.”
While Flo Health and Natural Cycles focus narrowly on fertility prediction or symptom logging, YON E Health’s integrated approach brings reproductive health, microbial balance, and early diagnostic capability together in one platform.
What’s next?
Looking ahead, the team is now focused on clinical collaborations, manufacturing partnerships, and refining its mobile platform that translates data into intuitive health insights.
