After two decades struggling to conceive, Atomic Kitten star, Liz McLarnon has welcomed her first child, a baby boy revealing it was a ‘scary’ experience
Liz McLarnon has given birth to a healthy baby boy after going through a “painful” IVF battle over the years. The Atomic Kitten star has been honest with her fans about struggling to conceive.
The 44-year-old took to her social media to share the happy news on Sunday. She posted a selfie giving a thumbs up to the camera on her Instagram page.
She captioned the photo: “Little man arrived early. It started out a bit scary but all went well in the end.” Liz revealed that she was pregnant in May of this year after struggling to conceive for two decades and turning to IVF.

Liz and her partner Peter met four years ago and soon after started their IVF journey. They went on to have three failed embryo cycles in 2023 and then suffered two miscarriages the following year.
Liz appeared on Loose women when she revealed the gender of her child. After a clip was played Liz walked out on stage and said: “That piece then, it made me get a bit teary back there.”
She then went on to say how far along she was in her pregnancy, saying: “I am just around five months. ‘We know what we’re having.. if you’d like to know? We’re having a boy!
“We thought it might be a girl, we thought it might be a girl. Lots of names going around in my head and getting really excited by.”
Earlier in the chat Liz got emotional as she explained the journey she went on to get pregnant. She said: “It’s been really tough actually.
“It’s strange because I speak about it, but hearing you talk about it then, in third person, it’s completely separate to me, it made me upset, it was almost likes someone else. Whereas when you deal with it yourself, you’re like ‘oh, carry on. Let’s do this’.”
Liz and Peter tied the knot back in 2023 and announced their happy news that they were expecting in May through an emotional Instagram clip.
In the sweet clip, Liz could be seen sitting on a park bench before turning around to reveal her bump. During the video, she said: ‘I’ve been keeping a secret from you, and I’ve mostly kept myself off social media because sometimes it was hard to smile.
“But after years of sometimes quite painful IVF and dark times, I’m pregnant! We feel like we’ve been given the world.”
Liz captioned the post: “I started to record a video of me just telling you but I got too emotional so I thought I’d just hide behind this little announcement instead.
“I just can’t believe we’re here. So many have been through exactly what I went through and worse. I want to share what I can and add my voice and ears to those who already help others understand or deal with all that comes with IVF and loss after so much hope. I’ve been a part of some beautifully supportive communities. I’m so grateful.”
