Dr. Kelly Caperton is the Founder and President of Caperton Fertility Institute, where she partners with her husband, Dr. Lee Caperton, to lead one of the most advanced fertility programs in the Southwest. Practicing for over two decades, Dr. Caperton is a Board-Certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG).
She earned her undergraduate degree from Boise State University in 1993 and her medical degree from the University of Washington in 1997, where she first discovered her passion for women’s health and reproductive surgery. She completed her internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.
Before founding Caperton Fertility Institute, Dr. Caperton practiced both solo and in group obstetrics and gynecology practices, where she gained deep experience in women’s reproductive care. In 2007, she relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she and Dr. Lee Caperton established CFI to bring state-of-the-art fertility care to New Mexico, West Texas, and surrounding states.
At CFI, Dr. Kelly Caperton oversees clinical operations and patient care, ensuring every individual receives personalized attention and emotional support throughout their fertility journey. Her leadership philosophy centers on compassion, transparency, and education — values that define the Caperton Commitment to patient-centered care.
Dr. Caperton’s outstanding patient reviews and reputation for empathy have made her one of the most trusted fertility specialists in the region. She is a mother of four and an advocate for women’s wellness, balancing her professional career with a love for photography, fly fishing, skiing, and taekwondo.

Dr. Lee Caperton, MD, FACOG

Dr. Lee Caperton is the Founder, CEO, and Medical Director of Caperton Fertility Institute, and the only Board-Certified Reproductive Endocrinologist and Fertility Specialist practicing and residing in New Mexico. He also serves patients across El Paso, West Texas, and the surrounding states, bringing innovation, advanced technology, and compassionate care to every fertility case.
Dr. Caperton earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado with a focus on bioengineering and molecular biology, and completed his medical training, residency, and fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center, where he later joined the faculty as a teacher and researcher.
With dual Board Certifications in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Dr. Caperton is nationally recognized for pioneering work in preimplantation genetic testing (PGT/PGS), single embryo transfer (SET), and laser-assisted reproductive technologies. His research contributions include studies on IVF, endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), and epigenetic mechanisms in assisted reproduction — some of which have been published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
Dr. Caperton’s expertise covers all aspects of modern fertility care, including IVF, ICSI, egg and embryo freezing, egg donation, surrogacy, fertility preservation, and minimally invasive reproductive surgery. His commitment to innovation has positioned Caperton Fertility Institute as one of the leading fertility centers in the United States.
Throughout his career, Dr. Caperton has received multiple honors, including the American Gynecological and Obstetrical Society’s AAOGF Award, the Vitals.com Compassionate Doctor Award, and Best Doc recognition for excellence in patient care.
A father of four, Dr. Caperton is deeply committed to advancing the science of fertility while ensuring that every patient feels seen, supported, and empowered on their path to parenthood.
