A growing body of research continues to link addictive patterns of screen use—spanning social media, mobile phones, and video games—to higher risks of mental health symptoms and suicidal behaviors in adolescents. Findings from the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study, reported in JAMA, suggest that the strongest associations are not with total screen time but with addictive engagement.
